I finally finished working on these customs and shipped them out a couple of days ago. A load of work went into each of these but I enjoyed every (well nearly!) moment of making them. I just thought I'd share the final group shot I took of them before packing them:

I've got plans for different versions in the future, piloted by various different figures including Androids and Dunnys. Look out for those on pre-order sometime fairly soon(ish!).

I've just listed a Cuppa Carbonite set I've put together on ebay. It includes the following:

1) Original Cuppa Carbonite - Mini Tea Tour version.

This piece is #1 of just 13 made, only 10 were for sale which sold out on pre-order before they were even made! The remaining 3 were artist proofs for DMS, Matt 'Lunartik' Jones and Dan Perry (aka Jazzy Dan).
This piece is painted in a gun metal finish and signed by all 3 on the reverse. Comes boxed with display stand.

2) Unpainted black resin test cast. The only one of it's kind, signed on the reverse by DMS. Comes with display stand.

3) Unpainted white polystone resin test cast. Again a one of it's kind, signed on the reverse by DMS. Comes with display stand.

4) Clear Cuppa Carbonite Iced Tea version in soap! Freshen up the bathroom or display with the other pieces. This version is currently not available anywhere else.

5) Two uncut box artwork sheets designed by Dan Perry, signed by DMS.

I've just demoulded the final pieces for th T42 Robocup custom and every one came out great! Next I'll be doing some test casts. I'm pleased to say that I've managed to get 4 points of ball jointed articulation into this!

I've decided to release some of my art onto the streets...
It's an attempt to be less precious about my art and to stop cluttering my studio with pieces. As a former graf writer I've had a love for street art for over twenty years, this is the logical choice for me.

I'll continue to offer my art for sale through my store, but any one off piece that hasn't sold within two weeks will be put out in a public place as free street art. I hate to see old pieces hanging around and the thought of them being out on the streets is an exciting one for me!

I've had a bit of time out recently, dealing with a death in the family and a chest infection...
I intend to kick myself up the arse and get much more productive with creating pieces and documenting it all here.

I've spent way too much time thinking and planning and not enough doing, time to change that.

Back story:

After the disappearance of the Junior Spies unit #3 in the Deep Forest region of Planet 44, Unit #4 has been camouflaged and sent out to survey the region. With the recent damage to the Duster units and now this, we feel there may be a predator of some kind on the planet. Junior Spies unit #4 has been equipped with a sedative spray to attempt to immobilise any predators.

Backstory:

We have developed these small inexpensive robots to be stationed throughout Planet 44 to function as mobile surveylance units. Constructed mainly from waste materials, the units are able to withstand the planet's atmosphere and weather conditions.

Several Duster units have been found destroyed recently, the Junior Spies will hopefully give us some more information on the cause.

Two more Specimens have been collected from the South West reef of Planet 44. The Deep Sea Dusters discovered a bottom feeding camouflaged specimen, while the Reef Patrol units found a very colourful life form skimming across the reef:

Objective command sent to #RFPTRL 004 to collect an unharmed specimen for research purposes.

Dunny Candles - Free Final Candle!!!

The last dunny candle has been made! Over the last 1 1/2 years I've made 1000 dunny candles in total and burned myself probably 100 times! Most of these have been sent out to collectors all over the world, some remain in my own collection.

I had always planned to stop at 250, 500 or 1000. 250 and 500 passed much faster than expected, I never expected to make so many! I'll continue making pieces, focussing more on my Dform plastic dunnys and others, loads of new ideas for 2010.

I wanted to make the last candle available in the way I started, a giveaway. This will include a one off A4 canvas print. I was asking for p&p to be covered but since it's the final candle i want as many people as possible to get a chance. So it's totally free!

Dform Kaws Style Dunny Custom

I haven't really done much in the Dform style using this mold. This one is part Dform but does contain dunny parts too (all butchered though!). It's airbrushed, washed, airbrushed again and then dry brushed:

I think the texture gives it a bit more of a pushead look so I'll be experimenting with that idea.

I decided to have a go at airbrushing one of my abstract plastic Dform Dunnys today. Nice bright purple, pink, red colour fade. Sold!

Banksy Style Rat

For quite a while now I've been working on a Banksy style rat. This started out as a commission but quickly turned into a full project. It's now complete and up for sale through my website and ebay. Here are some photos of the finished piece, 3" resin plaster with classic Banksy style matt black airbrushed finish.

Let me introduce myself.

I'm an artist, a former graffiti writer and recording artist. I now go by the name DMS, which can mean anything on any given day from Deadly Melt Syndrome to Digital Monkey Squad. I work mainly in the sculpture of art pieces, anything from designer candles to mini statues and my signature style DForm plastic figures.

The purpose of the blog is to document my projects, promote my art and provide a news section for my website: www.dms-one.net
